About the CMM Group

Apart from the occasional need to provide representation for Australian CMM scientists, the aim of the group is to organise the annual CMM “Wagga” meeting which is most often held in February at the Wagga Wagga campus of the Charles Sturt University, and occasionally in New Zealand or elsewhere in Australia. This is an informal, low-cost meeting at which students and early career researchers are encouraged to present their work and gain experience in chairing sessions. There is a special emphasis on poster sessions.

The 45th Annual Condensed Matter and Materials Meeting was held in February 2023 at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. Handbook Frontmatter, Abstracts.

The 47th CMM conference, 'Wagga2025' ('Wagga' in Brisbane) was held from 4 to 7 February 2025 at University of Queensland. Handbook here.

The 48th CMM conference was held from 9 to 13 February 2026 at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. Short handbook here. It was co-branded with the AAPPS Division of Condensed Matter Physics conference, the 6th Asia-Pacific Conference on Condensed Matter Physics (known as AC2MP2026).

News and Upcoming Events

The 49th Annual Condensed Matter and Materials Meeting (known as Wagga2027) is likely to be held with the 12th International Conference on Advanced Materials & Nanotechnology (AMN12) hosted by the MacDiarmid Institute, in Auckland, New Zealand. The dates are  8-12 February 2027. Abstract submission will close at the end of August 2026.
